Karlheinz-MEDITATION (at the moment in Auroville)

Switters, the hero of TOM ROBBINS' novel "Fierce Invalids home from Hot
Climates", voices his opinions on meditation:
Ideal Meditation has no practical application whatsoever. Practised as a
relaxation technique, as a device for calming and centering themselves so
that they might sell more stuff or fare better in office, but that is like
using the HOPE DIAMOND to scratch grocery lists in the bathroom mirror.
Meditation hasn't got a damn to do with anything, cause all it has to with
is NOTHING. NOTHINGNESS.OKAY?!

It doesn't develop the mind, it dissolves the mind. Selfimprovement? Forget
the self. It earases the self. Throws the ego out on its big brittle ass.
What good is it? Good for nothing. Excellent for nothing. Yes, hard but when
you get down to nothing, you get down to the ultimate reality. It's then and
exactly then, that you're sensing the true nature of the universe you're
linked up with the absolute ABSOLUTE. Unless you are content with blowing
smoke up your butt all your life

Or what about a quote from Sri Aurobindo a cool indian sage

Meditation, fixed contemplation, the absorbed dwelling of the mind on its
object( sravana, manana, nididhyâsana ). It stands at our tops as an
indispensable aid to our realisation of that which we pursue, and it is not
surprising that it should claim to be the leader of the journey and the only
available guide or at least the direct and innermost door of the temple.
